About Patrizia
Patrizia| My Background
Born in New York, Patrizia moved to Texas at the age of seven where she lived for several years. Her passion for art began at a very young age. As a toddler she could be found clutching her crayons while sleeping. She won recognition in early school years with her creative work. As a serious inspired young teen she was commissioned to copy the Old Masters including: Paul Klee, Picasso, Modigliani and Gaughin. Her main influences in the art world are Mary Cassat, Gaughin and Gustav Klimpt.
She studied fine art at the University of Texas in Austin, the University of Mexico UNAM, the University of the Americas, Mexico City, the University of the Americas, Puebla, Mexico, and an extension of the University of San Francisco in Guadalajara, Mexico. In Mexico City she studied with the late Mexican muralist Benito Messeguer director of the famous Art Academy, La Desmeralda.
Mexico City was vibrant, exciting and inspiring. The University of the Americas moved to Puebla where she lived for two years at the Hacienda de San Jose del Molino, the home of the first archbishop of New Spain. She also lived in Taxco, Mazatlan and Guadalajara totally emerging herself into the culture of Mexico with dance, music and art, fascinating history, and indigenous people.
Her first trip to Maui changed her life. She knew instinctively that she was meant to live in Hawaii and paint the beauty of it's people, tropical flowers and inspiring landscapes. She spent many many summers on the island of Maui, studying the dance of Hula, photographing the Hawai'ian women and children, the vibrant exotic flowers and the lush landscapes of the islands.
Currently Patrizia is living her dream and passion living on Maui as an artist where she has resided now for 6 years.
Her bold sense of color, composition, and vivid expression is captivating to art collectors worldwide, bringing her to a class of fine artists. Patrizia's passion is to be a contributing artist on Maui, painting the essence of the Hawai'ian people, culture, beautiful flora and landscapes.
